Warhol: Beatrix

Warhol: Beatrix - Lyklema Fine Art

Lyklema Fine Art was commissioned to find a work by Warhol in its network with a unique screen print of Queen Beatrix. Through contacts from her Sotheby's days and her studies, Femke managed to obtain a work for our client at the right price within a few days. The work of Pop Art artist Warhol (1928-1987) has been made in a series of 4 of 4 different monarchs. Warhol himself thought Beatrix's was the most beautiful. 30 prints were made of each work + 5 'AP', 2 PP and 2 HC.

The series is highly sought after by international collectors and is selling like hot cakes. Warhol made the images of Beatrix in 1985, who was immediately very enthusiastic about the idea and delighted with the execution. In addition to Beatrix, these were Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, Queen Margrethe of Denmark and Queen Ntombi Twala of Eswatini (formerly known as Swaziland). The idea for the series was suggested to the American artist in 1985 by the Dutch gallery owner George C.P. Mulder. He later sold the series for 100,000 guilders each.
